What's on my mind?
If reality alone determines the future, we're doomed.
I was sitting on the airport floor listening to a friend rant about the immigration process for people from "developing countries."
The forms. The scrutiny. The hoops you have to jump through that others never even think about.
Then I remembered something important that I think will help next time life gives you a good reason to quit.
To make meaningful progress in life, you need two seemingly opposite skills:
- Realism: Dealing with the world as it is.
- Optimism: Staying hopeful about the world you want.
Most people choose one.
Dreamers ignore reality and get disappointed. Cynics obsess over reality and stop dreaming altogether. But,
Sustainable progress flows from the Realistic Optimists.
So yes, travelling as a Nigerian in diaspora is tough. Fact. But it canβt convince me to abandon my dream of becoming a global citizen.
If you refuse to believe that today's reality is tomorrow's destiny, you'll be shocked at how many new realities you can create.
